I just borrowed Final Fantasy 7 (for the PC) from my friend. I installed it on my computer (I'm running windows XP btw) and it installed just fine and told me to restart my computer. So I do and insert the play disk, but insted of playing all I get is an autoplay pop-up asking if I want to open the folder to view the (movie) files or play them through windows media player. I have no idea how to get the game to start, although I suspect it's the fact that the game was made for windows 98 and XP doesnt know what to do with it (if thats the case, is there any way to trick XP into playing it?). How about just closing that and using the programs list?
The problem you are describing has more to do with your XP options than any compatibility issues. I have the same setup and it can run just fine. Because the play disc is media intensive, and windows media player is a crappy DVD option anyway, you should just select the option (from the drop down menu on that popup window) to 'Ignore' or 'do nothing' with that type of disc. The only other issue you may face are sound issues- due to the Midi Interface used.

If you get the same error when not using this mod, do NOT post a bug report here, as it clearly has NOTHING to do with this project!
