I just got a Monitor 3 and am thinking of getting the DataTrak kit. Has anyone figured out what the cable and SW interface is made up of? I have also thought of making my own cable and writing a program myself. This is not the problem. The problem is probably in the software download function itself. I have Datatrak and the AirX and have never been able to make the download work with my Compaq laptop.

If I leave the damn thing connected as documented, when I power up the laptop, the diagnostics on the serial port cause it to go through the download procedure so I know it is not the connection. The Datatrak software is extremely poorly designed and implemented. Several people have contacted Uwatec offering to do ports to Windows, Mac and even the Amiga. Uwatec has no interest. You could probably slap a datascope between the cable and serial port and get info for reverse engineering but that would be both unethical and illegal. Perhaps the solution is to bang on Uwatec and U.S. Divers until satisfied.
